Orange Cares Q2 Recap: $4,037 Donated to UCLA’s Robert G. Kardashian Center for Esophageal Health

Giving back starts with people—and sometimes, with a story close to home.

Through our Q2 Orange Cares initiative, Orange Aluminum donated $4,037 to UCLA’s Robert G. Kardashian Center for Esophageal Health, supporting its mission of advancing care, research, and education for people affected by esophageal disorders.

The contribution followed another effort from our team: assembling and delivering comfort kits for patients receiving treatment at UCLA. Together, these initiatives reflect what Orange Cares means to us: listening to our team, supporting causes they care about, and putting that care into action.

This donation is one part of our broader commitment to giving back. Explore Orange Cares and the organizations we support.

A Personal Connection to the Cause

Our Purchasing Manager, Vanessa, nominated the UCLA Robert G. Kardashian Center for Esophageal Health in memory of her grandfather, who passed away from esophageal cancer.

Her nomination brought a personal perspective to our Q2 initiative. Behind every diagnosis are people and families navigating uncertainty, treatment, and changes to everyday life. Supporting this cause offered our team a way to honor that experience through both practical gestures and a financial contribution.

From Patient Comfort Kits to a $4,037 Donation

Before making the donation, our team assembled comfort kits with journals, puzzles, coloring books, and handwritten notes of encouragement for patients at UCLA.

Each kit was intended to offer a moment of comfort during treatment—a quiet activity, a place to write, or a reminder that someone was thinking of them.

Our $4,037 donation continued that support, contributing to the Center’s work in esophageal health. We’re grateful to our customers, whose continued trust in Orange Aluminum helps make initiatives like this possible.

About UCLA’s Robert G. Kardashian Center for Esophageal Health

The UCLA Robert G. Kardashian Center for Esophageal Health brings together specialists dedicated to patient-centered treatment, research, and education related to disorders of the esophagus.

Its multidisciplinary approach connects expertise across gastroenterology, surgery, oncology, and other specialties. Alongside clinical care, the Center works to advance understanding of esophageal conditions and improve approaches to prevention and treatment.

For Orange Aluminum, supporting the Center was an opportunity to contribute to a mission that matters deeply to a member of our team—and to the patients and families the Center serves.

How Orange Cares Turns Customer Support Into Community Giving

Orange Cares, also known as OrangeCares, is Orange Aluminum’s charitable giving program. Each quarter, we donate a portion of our sales to nonprofit organizations selected by our team.

The program supports causes that reflect our values and the needs of our communities, from helping children and families to advancing education and supporting patient care.

Our Q2 initiative brought one of those values—Care—into focus. Vanessa’s nomination, our team’s comfort kits, and the donation each offered a different way to show up for the same cause.
