Aluminum Slatwall Panels, Tracks, and Inserts
Orange Aluminum’s slatwall profiles are extruded from 6063-T5 aluminum to ASTM B221 in the USA for store fixtures, trade show displays, garage walls, and stockrooms. Interlocking Slatwall builds a complete aluminum wall from self-mating panels. EZ Slatwall frames your own panel material with aluminum center and end tracks. Slatwall Inserts and their matching router bits line the grooves of MDF or wood slatwall.
Slatwall FAQ
Choosing a Slatwall System
What is slatwall?
Slatwall, also called slotwall, is a wall surface with evenly spaced horizontal slots. Hooks, shelves, and bins hang in the slots and move any time, which suits retail displays, garages, and workshops.
Which aluminum slatwall system do I need?
Go by what you want the wall made of. For an all-aluminum wall, use Interlocking Slatwall. To show your own wood, laminate, or other panels with aluminum slot lines, use EZ Slatwall. To reinforce MDF or wood slatwall, use Slatwall Inserts with the matching router bit.
What is the difference between Interlocking Slatwall and EZ Slatwall?
Interlocking Slatwall panels are solid aluminum and stack directly on each other, so the whole wall is aluminum. EZ Slatwall uses aluminum tracks between rows of your own 11/32" panels, so the panels form the face of the wall and the tracks form the slots.
Is metal slatwall better than MDF slatwall?
Aluminum doesn't swell, chip, or wear at the slots the way bare MDF grooves can. MDF slatwall usually costs less up front, and Slatwall Inserts give it aluminum-lined grooves.
What is the difference between slatwall and pegboard?
Pegboard uses rows of holes for pegs. Slatwall uses continuous horizontal slots, so hooks and shelves slide anywhere along a row instead of only at a hole.
Slatwall Inserts & Router Bits
What do Slatwall Inserts do?
Slatwall Inserts line the grooves of MDF or wood slatwall with aluminum. They protect the groove edges from wear and give hooks and shelves a stronger slot to hang from.
Which router bit do I need for Slatwall Inserts?
Match the bit to the insert. The Rounded Slatwall Router Bit (RSW-RB-USA) cuts the groove for the Rounded Slatwall Insert (SWR63). The Angled Slatwall Router Bit (ASW-RB-USA) cuts the groove for the Angled Slatwall Insert (SWA63). Run either bit at 14,000 RPM (18,000 RPM maximum); on a CNC router, start at a feed rate of 60 inches per minute.
Cutting, Finishes, and Ordering
Can I cut aluminum slatwall to length?
Yes. Cut with a miter saw and a carbide-tipped blade rated for non-ferrous metal, then deburr the cut edge. Wear eye protection.
What lengths and finishes are available?
Interlocking Slatwall comes in 48", 72", 96", and 144" lengths in mill, clear anodized, black powder coated, or white powder coated. EZ Slatwall tracks come in the same lengths in mill, clear anodized, or black anodized. Slatwall Inserts come in 48", 72", and 96" in mill or black anodized.
