Orange Cares Q2: Supporting Families With Action Youth America
Orange Cares Q2: Supporting Families With Action Youth America
For Q2 2026, Orange Aluminum selected Action Youth America (AYA) as our Orange Cares giving partner, supporting an organization that provides after-school learning and care for students and working families.
Our Purchasing Manager, Vanessa Aguilar, nominated AYA after experiencing the difference its programs made for her own family. Her story brought a familiar challenge into focus: finding dependable care for children when the school day ends before the workday does.
Through Orange Cares (OrangeCares), our quarterly charitable giving program, we direct a portion of sales to selected organizations. Explore Orange Cares and the organizations we support to learn how our customers and team help make these contributions possible.
What Action Youth America Does
Action Youth America provides after-school and out-of-school learning programs that combine academic support, enrichment, and recreation.
Its offerings include:
-
Homework help and academic activities.
-
Supervised after-school programs.
-
Sports and recreational activities.
-
Enrichment opportunities that encourage learning beyond the classroom.
-
Nutrition education and character development.
For students, these programs provide opportunities to learn, stay active, and connect with others. For working parents, supervised after-school care helps bridge the gap between school dismissal and the end of the workday.
Why Vanessa Nominated Action Youth America
Vanessa’s nomination came from her experience as a working parent. In our original announcement, she shared:
“I chose this charity because this program has helped me out as a working 8–5 parent.”
— Vanessa Aguilar, Purchasing Manager, Orange Aluminum
She described how homework help, planned activities, field trips, and sports gave her children a place to spend time after school while she continued working.
That personal connection helped our team understand why this organization mattered. Supporting AYA was an opportunity to recognize a program already making a practical difference for a member of Team Orange and her family.
Why After-School Support Matters to Working Families
A school schedule and a work schedule do not always line up. Parents need reliable arrangements for the hours between dismissal and pickup, while children benefit from a supervised environment with activities and support.
Programs like AYA bring those needs together. Homework assistance gives students time to work through assignments, while enrichment and recreation create opportunities to explore interests beyond class.
Our Q2 Orange Cares initiative supported an organization working at that intersection of student learning and family needs.

How Orange Cares Supports Community Organizations
Orange Cares connects Orange Aluminum’s everyday business with ongoing charitable giving. Each quarter, our team selects an organization, and a portion of sales contributes toward its donation.
Employee nominations help guide those choices. Stories like Vanessa’s introduce us to organizations through the people who know their value firsthand, while customer purchases help make our contributions possible.
